Deputy, Other Driver Charged In Jones County Crash

A deputy sheriff and the driver of another vehicle involved in an accident Thursday night in Jones County both face charges.

The Highway Patrol says Deputy Michael Turner was cited for driving left of center and driving with unsafe tires.

The accident happened Thursday night on Highway 58 outside of Trenton. Troopers say Turner's cruiser veered off the highway into a ditch and struck the back of another vehicle.

The other driver, Dierre Green was also charged with driving with unsafe tires.

Deputy Turner was airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital, and has since been released from the hospital.
