A former Manteo Middle School teacher who had sexual relations with a teenage student has been sentenced to 12 years behind bars. William Dean Johnson, 34-years-old of Wanchese, entered a plea agreement in Dare County Superior Court Monday. Johnson, a former teacher of the year, was charged last year with six felony offenses. Beyond the 12 years in prison, Johnson was also sentenced to five years probation.
