Alcohol is being investigated as a possible factor in a deadly collision in New Jersey caused by a North Carolina man driving in the wrong direction on Interstate 95.
Four people were killed and five others were injured. Police said an open bottle of alcohol was found in the truck of 76-year-old Robert William Clarke after the accident Friday night.
A state trooper narrowly missed hitting Clarke just before 8p.m. as he drove south in the northbound lanes. The trooper turned around to follow Clarke, but by the time she reached him his truck had already collided with a Nissan Quest minivan containing seven people.
