Ayden police are investigating a shooting in broad daylight. Police officials say around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon shots rang out on South Lee Street in Ayden across from Clark's Barbershop. Officials did confirm that one man was indeed shot in the abdomen and has since been rushed to Pitt County Memorial Hospital where he underwent surgery. What they are not saying is his name or why this crime may have happened and nearby shop owners are just as baffled.
