Future of Red Light Cameras Up in the Air

They're up and running, but they're not charging you, yet. That's because the future of red light cameras is unknown. A judge recently ruled in a Guilford County case that 90 percent of fines generated by red light cameras must go towards the county school system. But now counties across the state, including Pitt, have stopped issuing fines until they see if this ruling will shut down red light camera use statewide. Still fine or no fine, Greenville officials say the cameras have made a difference.
