Jacksonville is cleaning up its reputation by cracking down on crime.
A new survey found Jacksonville and Camp Lejeune ranked number one in lowest crime rate and safest military town in the U.S. The ranking came from a national magazine that is read by top industrial managers. That has some in Jacksonville hopeful they might be able to lure new jobs and business there, as long as everyone in the community gets tough on crime.
Havelock shows up at number two as the safest military hometown with less than 20,000 people. And Fayetteville, Jacksonville and Goldsboro all ranked in the top-ten for affordable housing in military communities.
