Authorities in Portsmouth, Virginia have now canceled an Amber Alert for a 5 week old baby. The original alert says they believed the infant was taken by a woman who may be suffering from post partum depression.
Matashia Holder-Ricks was abducted last night around 7:30 p.m. on Allard Road in Portsmouth.
She was found this morning in Norfolk and is now safe in a local hospital.
Police say the baby was abducted by Kimberly Gardner, who is now in custody.
The car Gardner was driving had North Carolina license plates, so authorities here in Eastern Carolina were placed on alert to look out for the missing baby this morning.
Authorities say the infant was left with Gardner last night while the mother went shopping. When the mother returned, both were gone.
