The thousands of North Carolina children covered under the state and federal health care program s-chip will not lose their coverage.
Congress has voted to temporarily extend the popular children's health insurance program into 2009. There was concern recently about a gap in coverage if the program was not extended before it expired. Democrats had hoped to cover more children, but President Bush vetoed that twice.
