To make the email appear legitimate, the email has information from the Department of State's website, including a lengthy explanation of how they verified your money. The FBI says the email is written to make you trust the sender. The scammer also requests a payment in order to handle the discrepancy in the currency conversion or for taxes. The FBI says, this email is a scam. The Department of State does not make unsolicited contact with individuals regarding matters such as inheritances.
