The Raeford police chief has been fired after being charged with assaulting his estranged wife.
Town Manager Richard Douglas said Kevin Locklear was fired Thursday. He had worked for the town since 1989, and was named chief in 2004.
Locklear was suspended without pay last month after being accused of assaulting his estranged wife, Earlina. The charges were dismissed this week after Locklear agreed to court-ordered treatment.
