NBC's Today Show and Al Roker Heading to Greenville Feb. 14

GREENVILLE (2-10-2005) -- An East Carolina University medical resident will again be featured on the "Today" show Monday, Feb. 14. In addition to telling Dr. Jesse Lieberman's story, Al Roker is scheduled to present his national weather forecast from Pitt County Memorial Hospital and the Brody School of Medicine beginning at 7 a.m.

Producers from the "Today" show welcome local residents to turn out to be a part of the crowd. "We'd like it be a mini-Rockefeller Plaza," said Debbie Kosofsky, "Today" show producer. She added since it will be Valentine's Day, any one wanting to make a marriage proposal should consider doing that live on national television.

In addition to Roker, a special musical guest will be on hand to entertain the crowd in honor of Valentine's Day.

Because of a fall from a third-story balcony in February 2003, Lieberman has limited movement in his biceps and shoulders and no movement in his legs.

At the time of his accident, Lieberman was a third-year medical student at Wake Forest University. He is a first-year resident and in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Brody School of Medicine and at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. He went on to graduate with his class, and in July began his intern year at PCMH and ECU. Next year, he will move to the Charlotte Institute of Rehabilitation to complete his residency in physical medicine and rehab.

If breaking news occurs, the airing of Lieberman's interview and Roker's appearance is subject to change.
