Police To Get $500,000, Beef Up Patrols

Greensboro's city manager has been given a deadline to report to the city council on effort to beef up police after homicides surged this month.

The council has told the city manager to find $500,000 to pay officers and detectives overtime and to fill vacancies in the robbery unit.

City Manager Mitchell Johnson must report back to the council by December 18.

Seven homicides were reported in Greensboro in the first eight days of December.
