A Pitt County teacher has been charged with having sex with a student. The Pitt County Sheriff's department says 30-year-old Katherine Baker Tew, an English teacher at South Central High School, has been charged with one count of indecent liberties with a minor and one count of sexual offense with a student. Authorities say evidence, as well as testimony from the 17-year-old student involved, leads authorities to believe Tew and the student had a sexual encounter on school grounds after hours. Tew's first court appearance was Tuesday. Her next court appearance is scheduled for April 15.
