Stars Pull in the Money and the Payoff Is Finally Here

The stars were shining brightly at Camp Lejeune last Fall, as celebrities from sports and entertainment met Marines, Sailors and their families at the first "Marine Corps Celebrity Invitational Golf Event."

Tuesday at Camp Lejeune came the pay off for two local charities supporting the troops. More than $21,000.00 from the star studded event last September went to the "Fallen Patriot Fund" and to Jacksonville's and Onslow County's "Project Care."

The money was only part of the excitement the event brought to the community though, as big names came to golf and took home some lasting friendships with the troops and their families who came face-to-face. And, even bigger names are signing on for the 2005 celebrity event, which will return to Jacksonville and Camp Lejeune at the end of September for a second round.
