"Go Red for Woman"

Friday was national "Go Red for Women Day." And staff at Pitt County Memorial Hospital took time to not only dress the part, but hand out information women need to know to help prevent heart disease.

According to the American Heart Association, one out of every three women die of the disease each year. Two-thirds of American women who die suddenly of a heart attack had no prior symptoms.

This year's theme was "Know Your Numbers," such as cholesterol, weight, blood sugar, heart rate, and blood pressure. Hospital officials say they plan to continue "Go Red for Women Day" in honor of the hospital's future cardiovascular center.
