Child Finally Laid To Rest

A child who was murdered nearly a decade ago was laid to rest in Pamlico County Thursday after spending most of her death in an evidence box. People gathered at the Oriental Cemetary to remember 13-year-old Shawanda Letisha Johnson who was murdered by her uncle in 1995. Johnson's body laid in a shallow hole covered by leaves near Florence, South Carolina until it was discovered just three years ago. Members of the community raised money and donated a plot of land to give Johnson a funeral after no family members came forward.
