A 14-year old Wilson girl was shot in the face and later died. Now police are ruling it an accident.
Police say Shikita Shanta Archer was found inside a home on Black Creek Road around 7:30 Wednesday night. Lawmen say it appears 20-year-old Robert Earl Keel, who they say was a friend of the victim, was unloading a handgun in the house when it went off.
Police say Keel has a criminal record and has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, as well as involuntary manslaughter. He remains in custody under an $80,000 bond.
