Authorities say a Beaufort County middle school student faces drug charges. Lawmen say the incident happened Friday at Bath Elementary School, which houses kids from kindergarten through the eighth grade.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Department says a teacher discovered the student with about two-and-a-half grams of marijuana during school. Authorities wouldn't tell us what grade the student is in, but did say the student is of middle school age.

Authorities also say charges of misdemeanor drug possession are pending against the student. We tried contacting the school and the school system repeatedly to find out their response. We were unable to get a comment.
