Revitalizing Downtown Kinston

Updated: Tue 8:47 PM, Feb 01, 2005

The revitalization of downtown Kinston could help the area know as the "Magic Mile" come back to life once again. Downtown Kinston used to be the place where Lenoir County residents often did their shopping. When the mall opened, many smaller businesses in downtown were forced to go out of business.

Now former downtown stores are being gutted to make room for new businesses. City residents believe rebuilding efforts will bring back the glory days of downtown Kinston. The revitalization efforts come at a perfect time for the city which is finally getting a new airline carrier, and import-export firm at the nearby Global Transpark.
