Shorter Trip to OBX

There’s good news for motorists traveling to or from the Outer Banks for the holidays. A five-mile stretch of Highway 64 has been opened to four lane traffic between Creswell and Columbia. Transportation officials say it's the first such span of new highway to open following two years of construction. The next four-lane span of traffic to open will be through the town of Columbia next spring.
