New Jacksonville Mayor And Council Sworn In

It was a packed house at the city hall Tuesday night in Jacksonville.

Over a hundred people showed up at the council chambers to see former deputy police chief Sammy Phillips sworn in as mayor.

Alva Williams, Jerome Willingham, Reva Sullivan, and Randy Thomas -- the new members of the city council were also sworn in this evening. Current council members Michael Lazzara, and Frannie Coleman also took the oath of office.

Former Mayor Jan Bean Slagle decided not to seek a third term.
