Pitt County Schools now rank eighth in the state for the number of teachers who have achieved national board certification.
The school system says 26 teachers got the national certification this year, bringing Pitt County to 224 board certified teachers. National board certification is an assessment program designed to recognize and reward teachers and make them better. Statewide, North Carolina again leads the nation in board certified teachers, an honor it's received since 1994.
