It's a special tree for a special cause.
The "Lights of Knowledge" tree lighting ceremony was held Monday night at Pitt Community College. Each light on this special tree represents someone that's being honored or remembered for their connection to the school.
All the proceeds generated from the purchase of these lights will help fund educational projects at the college. Last year, money raised went to a campus beautification project.
School officials say this year they plan to expand technology at the school's library with the funds that are raised.
