Toddler Dies In House Fire In Dunn

Authorities say a 2-year-old died in a house fire in Dunn that several other family members managed to escape.

Firefighters say the mother of the toddler was among those who escaped the fire, Fire Chief Austin Tew says that within minutes of the call late Monday afternoon, the house was fully engulfed in flames.

Captain Tony Strickland of the Dunn Police Department says 21-year-old Shantea Blue was cut when she tried return to the house to rescue her son. He says she was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Tew says the child's body was found in a bedroom.
