A former Washington police officer has admitted he targeted Hispanic motorists, robbing them during traffic stops.

Steven Hilsinger today pleaded guilty to four misdemeanor civil rights violations in federal court.

Prosecutors say back in November and December of 2005, Hilsinger stopped Hispanic motorists for minor traffic violations. Instead of merely asking for their drivers licenses, they say Hilsinger took their entire wallets. The feds say on the first occasion the officer stole $60, while the second time he took $40.

Then in September of 2006, prosecutors say again Hilsinger targeted Hispanic drivers and stole money, only this time the victim was an undercover police officer. On those occasions, $220 and $120 were taken.

The police officer resigned shortly after his arrest.

Hilsinger's sentencing is set for March 3rd.

Since when is 17 months in "protected" custody in a prison a harsh punishment? Thats a slap on the wrist. NC tax payers paid for this jerk to get 3 HOT meals a day, a roof over his head, free cable, a free gym membership, access to a softball league, the opportunity to write off all child support while in prison and 6 months of food stamps when he got out and for the first 6 months he was out he was not obligated to pay child support. Now that is some harsh punishment if you aske me...Are you serious or just down right crazy???? Thats not a punishment!

No he wasnt living with his wife and 3 kids. You must not have seen in quite a while. He invited hispanics to his home for cook outs during the day only to prey on them at night. His claims of stealing to make ends meet was nothing but a lie. His now ex-wife hadnt recieved child support payments in months and even before that was not on a regular basis. SO to Lynn & Kelly get your head out of clouds. Every human being has rights and doesnt deserve to be preyed upon by people we are suppose to trust. The Hispanic do jobs Americans refuse to do and work harder than most Americans no matter what race. What about the Hispanic families that were ROBBED by an armed police officer. So I dont care if you went to school with this idiot or if you were his family no person deserves this treatment. So I do know both sides of this story and his so called family didnt ever see a dime of his paycheck or anything for that matter. This is why America is the way it is we have morons like yall making excuses for criminals and not to mention the racism!!

Oh JESUS! I wish Iwas here when you idiots posted! This thug piece of garbage deserves the highest possible sentence then multiply that by 10! He was a cop! He took an oath, he signed the friggin oath! He is a thief. If you steal you are a thief, if you are a cop then you are corrupt and a liar and a thief and many of them are child molesters and rapists. So get out of your bubble or do everyone a favor and move out of America. Move somewhere like Iraq where the cops are encouraged to kill, rape, mame and thieve. You will be happier there and most of us Americans will be happier knowing you are not here. So very sincerely!
