Pitt Community College is undertaking a $70 million expansion project. It includes more classrooms, a library and a new student services facility, as well as a 131 acre land acquisition for future development.

Pitt County management teams, along with commissioners, are working with the college to develop funding plans. But the land purchases have already been made using state bonds. The school's President says this all comes as the college prepares for record enrollment growth over the next eight to 10 years.

The college opened the doors of its first building in 1964. Enrollment has grown at a rate of about five percent a year.
