Thousands came out to Jacksonville's 49th Annual Holiday Parade Saturday morning, many to see a Hollywood star, here to say thanks to local troops.
Actor Gary Sinise, from Forrest Gump, Apollo 13 and the new CSI-New York TV show was the guest of honor at the parade down Western Boulevard. The USO brought Sinise and his Lieutenant Dan Band to town, to play during the salute to the troops after the parade, something that the Oscar-nominated actor says touches him close to home.
And, with General Ronald Coleman doing the introduction, Gary and the Lieutenant Dan Band rocked a big crowd in downtown Jacksonville Saturday afternoon. Sinise and his band have traveled to Afghanistan, Iraq and other far-flung places to entertain U.S. Troops far from home.
