The National Weather Service says the airports in the Triangle and Triad areas of North Carolina are on track to record the fewest days of measurable rainfall ever recorded in a year.
The weather service says Raleigh-Durham International Airport has had 81 days of measurable precipitation through the end of November. That's 11 days less than the record of 92 days set in 1969.
Piedmont Triad International Airport has reported 76 days of measurable precipitation through the end of November, or nine days less than the 85-day record set in 1986.
The weather service says both airports typically have nine days of measurable rainfall in December, meaning both are on track to break their records.
The normal number of days with measurable rainfall is 113 at both locations.
