Jacksonville Street To Get Repairs

Jacksonville finally has the green light to fix a damaged street that's been closed for more than a year.

Construction is set to begin soon on Dewitt Street.

Back during the summer of 2006 problems with the Elizabeth Lake dam caused part of the street to collapse, putting homes at risk of flooding and falling into a huge sinkhole.

This past summer the city was ready to fix the street, but not the privately owned dam. Owners of the dam complained to the state and the project was put on hold.

This week the city got it's CAMA permit. Jacksonville expects work on Dewitt Street to begin after the holidays and be finished in February.
