Veterans Gathering Toys for Troops' Kids

Their moms and dads may be far from home during the holidays, but children of military service members may have a little bit brighter Christmas, thanks to some veterans and neighbors in Jacksonville.

On Veterans' Day, the local Disabled American Veterans Chapter in Jacksonville announced a toy drive, to bring smiles to faces of deployed troops' kids here at home. They think at least 200 children may qualify for a toy, treats and a quick visit with Santa on December 16th. But, the DAV wants to get its own donations of new toys, or checks, since other charities are doing the same thing this time of year.

Donations of toys or money can be dropped off at the DAV Chapter 16 offices, on Sherwood Road before December 13th. That's when local motorcyclers are planning a toy run, with all those toys to be distributed on December 16th at the chapter house.
