You could end up paying more sales tax in Pitt County.

Pitt County Manager Scott Elliott says they will be asking the general assembly to allow Pitt County to increase its sales tax from seven to eight percent. County officials say the extra one percent will be used for building improvements to Pitt County schools and Pitt Community College.

Even if the measure is approved, county residents may still be required to vote on it sometime later this year.
