Food Lion says it's signed an agreement to acquire ten Winn-Dixie stores in North Carolina and Virginia.
The Salisbury-based grocer will pay for the stores in cash out of its planned 2004 capital expenditures budget. It will assume leases and acquire equipment and inventory at the store.
Food Lion is a subsidiary of Delhaize America, and operates more than 1,200 stores and has a workforce of 73,000.
