Foundation Hands Out Grant Money

It's money well spent. That's what members of the Pitt County Memorial Hospital Foundation said at a grant expo in Greenville about the more than $900,000 in grant money that was donated to thirty local programs.

Foundation members say the grant money will help fund programs ranging from diabetes education, to cancer screenings, to reducing obesity among children.

One recipient of this year's grant was Pitt County Schools. The school district received nearly $45,000. School officials say they will use the money to install milk machines, build walking trails, and build upon nutrition programs already in place.
