While we can be thankful for the food on our tables this holiday, one Pitt County family is thankful for the new home they will soon be in.
The Miller family of Winterville is currently cramped inside a camper on their property. But they're getting a new home in its place. Their old home was rundown and falling apart. It was full of asbestos and lead paint.
The Miller family has an elderly relative in the home, a teenage daughter and disabled son to take of, making it impossible they say, to afford a new home. So they asked the Pitt County Community Development Program for help. The county is able to refurbish or even rebuild someones home from the ground up.
The program is for low-income families who live in substandard housing. For more information you can call 252 902-3281.
