Fort Bragg Soldiers Responsible For Saddam's Custody

A brigade of soldiers based at Fort Bragg was responsible for Saddam Hussein's custody before he was turned over to Iraqi authorities and executed.

The former dictator was held for several months last year by the 16th Military Police Brigade.

Colonel John Chambliss is its commander and says he can't discuss the secure site where Saddam was held.

But yes, he saw Saddam personally -- several times.

Chambliss says Saddam was very presidential. He says he spoke with Saddam and promised not to lie or cause problems if Saddam did the same.

Chambliss says he never had a problem during his five months with Saddam, though he can't say much else about his mission. It's all classified.
