Two boys are recovering after Onslow County Animal Control says they were attacked by a Rottweiler Wednesday night.
Animal control says it happened just before 7:00 o'clock off of Briarneck road between Highway 258 and Gum Branch road.
The officer says a 3 year-old Rottweiler escaped his pen and attacked the two children, ages 7 and 12, who were playing in a nearby yard. The kids have back and hip injuries.
The 12-year-old was taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital while the 7 year-old was flown by Eastcare to Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
The dog's owners weren't home at the time, but animal control officers were able to get the dog. It's at the shelter.
We're told the dog hasn't had any previous attacks.
