Woman Critical After Pit Bull Attack

A woman is in critical condition after being attacked by her neighbor's pit bull.

It happened in Gibsonville just northwest of Burlington.

Police say 56-year-old Diane Willette was bitten as she tried to
retrieve her own dog's bowl after it blew into her neighbor's yard.
The dog attacked when Willette got close to where it was tied.
The pit bull tore flesh from Willette's torso and left cuts on
her legs and arms.

Police say she was taken to a hospital in Greensboro and
developed another medical condition that made her condition
critical.

Police say the dog also bit an officer who tried to give it
water. The animal is being held by Guilford County Animal Control
Services.

The pit bull's owner, 25-year-old Terry Holbrook, was cited for
failing to maintain the animal's vaccination record.
