Protest Filed in Commissioner's Race

There's more trouble in the race for one of Craven County's Commissioner seats.

Monday morning, district five Republican candidate Anthony Michalek of Havelock filed a formal election protest with the county and state board of elections, citing problems with vote counting and improper supervision at the polls on Election Day.

County board of election officials say they will decide Tuesday whether vote canvassing should be postponed for a few days until the protest is resolved. Democratic incumbent Leon Staton's unofficial lead is 126 votes.
