Stranded Travelers Find Shelter Wherever

With Interstate-95 a major corridor for holiday travelers, many ended up stopping off in Rocky Mount when the roads got bad Sunday. But when rooms in Rocky Mount filled up, the Red Cross opened the Gateway Convention Center on Winstead Avenue, and surrounding hotels began allowing travelers to sleep in their lobbies, and conference rooms.
Red Cross officials couldn't say how many people they helped, but did say it was at least several hundred.
