An Onslow County person was stabbed several times, for what authorities say could have been sparked by a joke. According to deputies, on Wednesday, a person was telling jokes at a cookout near Sneads Ferry Seafood, when 35 year old Edward Higgins Sullivan and 30 year old Carmen Cox walked by and were offended. Authorities say Sullivan handed Cox a knife and she stabbed the victim 12 times, even puncturing a lung. The victim is expected to make a full recovery while both Sullivan and Cox were charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
