Marine Second Suspect Arrested In Big Pot Bust

A second arrest has been made in that big marijuana bust in Onslow County.

Deputies found some $200,000 in marijuana in the woods behind 1571 Belgrade-Swansboro Road last night. They arrested David Shepard of Hubert after he drove up to the location.

Now deputies have arrested a second man. Rene Bonet, a Camp Lejeune Marine, was arrested early this morning. Authorities say they found more than a pound of marijuana after searching Bonet's dwelling.

Bonet is in jail under a $55,000 bond on charges of manufacturing marijuana, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling/vehicle for control substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Shepard is under a $60,000 bond. His charges include manufacture marijuana by cultivation, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling or place for controlled substance, and two counts possession of firearm by convicted felon.
