Fall 2008 Presidential Debates Set

By  |

While the candidates have yet to be determined, the location for next fall's presidential debates are set.

The Commission on Presidential Debates has picked Mississippi,
Tennessee and New York to host the debates.

The first will focus on domestic policy and the third on foreign
policy. Candidates will sit at a table with the moderator, rather
than stand at podiums. There will be eight, 10-minute segments.
Officials say loosening the constraints within the 90-minute debate
will allow more serious examination on complicated questions.

The second debate will be a town meeting format and include
questions from audience members and the Internet. Candidates will
have time reserved for closing statements in each debate.

The vice presidential debate will be held in Missouri.
