General Motors Minivan Recall

General Motors is recalling more than 700,000 minvans because of problems with the power sliding door.

The recall is due to a safety risk that may cause wrist or arm injuries if a passenger holds the interior door handle while the door is moving.

The recall affects 1997 to 2005 model Chevrolet Ventures, 1997 to 1999 model Pontiac Transport Montanas, 2000 to 2005 model Pontiac Montanas and 1997 to 2004 model Oldsmobile Silhouettes.

Nineteen arm and wrist injuries have been reported. There have also been 13 reports of broken bones.

General Motors says it will replace the original handles with ones that can't be gripped In a way that could cause injury.
