Elections can sometimes get ugly and that couldn't have been anymore evident than in a smear campaign waged over a State Senate seat in Eastern Carolina this election.
The seat was for Onslow and Jones Counties, where incumbent State Senator Cecil Hargett went on the attack against his Republican challenger Harry Brown.
WITN 7 talked to Hargett. He told us those negative ads contributed to him losing his Senate seat for a second term and that the ads used in his campaign commercials were not totally truthful.
Hargett also said he wanted the public to know that Harry Brown is an honest businessman, an honest person, and a good person.
Cecil Hargett has talked to Harry Brown on the phone personally and apologized for the commercials. Brown meanwhile is getting ready to serve Jones and Onslow counties this coming January.
