Thousands of votes may have been lost in Carteret County. And election officials say the company that made the electronic voting equipment is to blame.
County election officials say more then 4500 out of over 7500 electronic early votes may have been lost due to a misunderstanding. Voting officials say Unilect Corporation, the maker of the electronic voting equipment, now admits they gave wrong information concerning how many votes the equipment would hold.
County voting officials say the lost votes would not affect the outcome of any of the county's races.
