More than 12 thousand voters supported the $2.6 million Lenoir County Library bond referendum Tuesday.

Money generated from the collection of property taxes will help add 10,000 square feet of new space to the North Queen Street branch. That money should be available in six months and the construction project should last about 18 months.

Voters in Edgecombe County passed a $12.8 million school bond referendum Tuesday. Officials say that money will pay to replace five schools and improve others in dire need of repair. Property taxes will go up two cents for every $100 in property value.
