American Flag From Operation Iraqi Freedom Given To Students

Many students at Creekside Elementary school in New Bern have relatives in the armed forces. And Friday they got a gift from those relatives overseas.

An American flag flown in an Operation Iraqi Freedom mission was given to the school and its students. The flag was flown on August 31st by Marines stationed at Cherry Point.

Military personnel spent the afternoon sharing with students the meaning of the red, white and blue. Lieutenant Colonel Dave Krebbs says the flag is a symbol of hope for those military children.

Approximately a third of the squadron at Cherry Point is currently fighting in Iraq.
