No Bell Ringers Allowed

It’s a controversial ban on what some say is a fixture during the holiday season, the red kettles and ringing bells of the Salvation Army.

Target, one of the nation's largest retailers with 1,300 stores nationwide including here in Eastern Carolina, has asked the Salvation Army to leave. Shoppers we talked to say they disagree with the company's decision.

Robbie Robbins with the Pitt County Salvation Army chapter says it will leave a hole in donations, but other stores are letting bell ringers stay longer, and they've picked up some new stores.

Target officials say they're simply enforcing existing rules against solicitation and they donate millions of dollars each year to charities just like the Salvation Army.
