It wasn't a hurricane, but Election 2004 that had Onslow County commissioners calling an emergency meeting Thursday.

As early voters lined up around the Board of Elections office, commissioners were across the street at the courthouse in Jacksonville meeting with elections officials and voters.

Two newly registered voters claimed they couldn't cast ballots earlier this week, after elections workers said their paperwork had not yet been entered into computers.

But those issues have been completed, says the elections board and assured commissioners all votes will be counted after the November 2 election.

Just how busy has it been for elections workers? Onslow County alone has processed more than 20,000 new voters since the 2000 presidential race.
