A Fort Bragg soldier has been sentenced to 60 years in military prison after pleading guilty to rape and other crimes.
Under his plea arrangement, Specialist Menkaura A. Moss of
Virginia Beach, Virginia, will be eligible for parole after 20
years. He also was demoted by three ranks to the lowest rank in the
Army and given a dishonorable discharge.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree rape and one
count each of sodomy and assault by battery. He also pleaded guilty
to three counts each of first-degree burglary and felony larceny
and four counts of credit card fraud.

Three of the attacks happened between Dec. 31 and Feb. 15 at the
apartment complex in Spring Lake where Moss lives. He also pleaded
guilty to assaulting a woman on February 25th at Fort Benning,
Georgia, where he attended jump school.
He told the court that he looked for homes with unlocked doors
and windows. The 22-year-old is a mechanic in the 503rd Military Police Battalion.
